Dave Mustaine Is Taking a Break From Social Media
Back in November, Dave Mustaine shared a brief teaser clip of new Megadeth music. He's been giving small updates on the band's progress along the way, but has been reluctant to divulge a targeted release date, if there even is one right now. In his latest update, Mustaine reveals he's going dark on social media to place a stronger focus on the follow-up to 2016's Dystopia, which netted the band their first Grammy victory.
"Droogs, I’m pulling back on Social Media as things rev up re: LP 16. Not enough time to do my job(s)," Mustaine tweeted on Christmas Day, noting, "Progress is good. Music is fast & strong. All 4 contributing. Things are good. Get updates via http://megadeth.com, @Megadeth until we finish LP 16. I’m hurryin'. Really!"
What we know so far is that it looks like there's going to be blast beats on this album, a first for Megadeth, and that Mustaine has scaled back his political commentary regarding the lyrics. "I think right now that the state of affairs in the world, it’s so horrible – it’s just so horrible. People are so mean to each other," he told The Metal Voice. So, I’ve toned it down a little bit with the political stuff to where it’s more about being a one-world kind of people, about the stuff that affects us as people, not so much as citizens of any government or nation. Why put an unnecessary wall up between us, right?"
It will be a busy 2019 for the thrash titans. The Megacruise is booked for Oct. 13 and Megadeth will be providing direct support for Ozzy Osbourne on the next North American leg of his farewell tour. See those dates below.
