Denmark Creates ‘Fat Tax’
No, it’s not extra taxes for fat people. It’s a tax on foods with saturated fat. Denmark is going to tax 16 kroner (which is about 3 dollars) for every kilogram of saturated fat in foods. It's estimated that butter will go up 30% and a bag of chips go up 8% in cost.
This is an attempt to encourage people to eat better and reduce heart disease. The crazy thing is Denmark is one of the skinniest countries there is. If there’s somewhere to really consider a ‘Fat Tax’ it should be here in the U.S. Did you know that 1/3 of America is considered to be obese? Chew on that!
