It will never be a bad thing to report that there is a new business opening up in Albany. The Capital Region needs new blood to keep things flowing in the right direction. I am very happy to let you guys know that there is a new spot on the way and it is coming from some folks in the Capital Region that really know their pizza. We should all be very excited for Gemelli's because it is loosely connected to the Sovrana pizza family.

About a week ago this video was posted to their social media account saying "see you soon." According to the Albany Business Review Gemelli's is set to open up later this week. The Business Review also states that Daga’s family is who opened Sovrana in Albany back in 1985. All I know is that if this is coming from anyone who is connected to the pizza there this is going to dominate that area. I should be clear that this location is not affiliated with Sovrana, but a totally different place.

The Business Review reports owner, Angelo Daga, saw all the recent developments around Colvin Ave in Albany and jumped at the chance to open a spot. His location will be right next to Lynn's Uptown Tavern, which was a different pizza spot beforehand. Daga said seeing all of the new apartments and increased foot traffic was a huge factor is choosing this location.

Colvin Avenue has gotten a lot busier in recent years. It is also the home to Albany' Chick-Fil-A location, which also adds to the traffic on the Central ave side. Luckily Daga's spot will be up towards the Washington Ave aside so he will likely not have to deal with that too much. All I know is that I am very excited for them to open their doors soon.
