Sally D’s Is Making Some Of The Best Slices In Upstate NY
A wise man once said never pay full price for late pizza. That is a quote that lives in my head forever, and is also practically responsible for my obsession with pizza. Thanks to growing up in the 80s and 90s and watching the Ninja Turtles I grew to love pizza from a very young age. Now that I am in my 40s I'm always searching for a place that is cooking up some of the best.
Around the Capital Region there is no shortage of pizza for you to try. Just make sure that you are trying the right ones. I will always do my best to make sure I let you guys know when I've found a hidden gem, and I think that's exactly what I found with Sally D's in Rotterdam.

Sally D's is making some of the best pizza that I've had in the area. They've got their traditional stuff but they're also doing some unique styles, too. My current obsession from them is their hot honey slice. Pepperoni cups, ricotta cheese, pesto (at least I think that's pesto), and a drizzle of hot honey to top it off.

Does this not look amazing? It tastes as good as it looked, but please refrain from licking or eating your device. Figured I'd put that disclaimer in there. While that particular slice from them is what I've been going with my favorite one that I've had was a specialty slice called the Tony Soprano. It had "gabbagool", and those "little vinegar peppers." It was quite possibly the perfect slice of pizza. I only had it one time and it hasn't been there since that amazing day.
There are a few days I'll always remember. When my kids were born, 9/11, and when I found the Tony Soprano slice from Sally D's.
Where is Sally D's located?
You can find them at 1045 Community Rd, Schenectady, NY 12303. If that address is familiar it's because they are in the former Nikki P's location. I have to say, I loved Nikki P's and was sad to see them close. Sally D's is doing a fantastic job of filling the void that they left when the closed up shop.
They're open 7 days a week and I hope they're in the Schenectady area for a long time. There are days I get off the air and just need to unwind with a slice. I'm glad Sally D's is right there to keep me going.
