Grand Opening Date Announced for new Popeye’s in Halfmoon

Finally! There's been talk for a long time about Popeye's coming to the Clifton Park/Halfmoon area, and the wait is almost over. It was announced Thursday that the new Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen will officially open its doors on Friday, January 28, 2022.

The Grand Opening will begin at 10:30am on January 28 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and lots of electronics giveaways, like TV's, Airpods, and iPads.

Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen is a welcome addition to the restaurant scene in that are of town:

The town of Halfmoon is very excited about the grand opening of Popeyes, we think it’s another food establishment that will benefit the residents of our community. The town board and myself are extremely happy that they are here and that they will be part of our community. They have a unique niche in the food chain because of their Louisiana-style brand.

Popeye's was founded in 1972 in New Orleans and has quickly expanded across the country over the last fifty years. The Halfmoon location is the newest of several Popeye's restaurants in the Capital Region. The most recent opened on Southern Boulevard in Albany. There is also a location on Hoosick St. in Troy, State St in Schenectady, Central Ave in Albany and inside Crossgates Mall.

The Halfmoon Popeye's will be located at 483 Route 146, which is right in the area of the busy intersection with Route 9. It will offer dine-in, take-out, and drive-thru service. Expect lots of increased traffic in that area for a while.

We're still awaiting word on a Chick-Fil-A in that same area.
