Guns N’ Roses Joined by Angus Young for Two AC/DC Covers in Australia
Guns N' Roses and AC/DC represent two of the biggest rock bands of all time and combined they look to be even more unstoppable. For the second time, Angus Young hopped onstage with GN'R to bust out a couple AC/DC classics, this time in his home country of Australia.
As Guns continue their overwhelmingly successful "Not in This Lifetime..." tour, the band stopped in Australia for a series of performances, which have often hovered around three hours long. The band mixed in a bunch of cover songs per usual, playing classics from Pink Floyd, The Who and, most importantly here, AC/DC at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Feb. 10. Young took the stage after "Sweet Child o' Mine" and together, they ran through "Whole Lotta Rosie" (video above) and "Riff Raff" (video below).
The performance mirrors the joint effort last year when Young played with Guns N' Roses at the Coachella festival, which also marked the first U.S. festival gig for Guns since the return of Slash and Duff McKagan. At that time, it had been rumored that Axl Rose would be fronting AC/DC to take over the ailing Brian Johnson, who was forced off the road due to severe hearing issues.
Since then, the Australian rock powerhouse wrapped up their world tour in support of Rock or Bust with Axl at the helm, leading many to dub the union "Axl/DC." So, what do we call this Australian show collaboration -- Angu(n)s n' Roses?
GN'R will be back in North America this summer and a list of dates can be found at our 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
