The iconic toy store FAO Schwarz is offering a magical, one time, one night stay via Airbnb, but there is a catch. You must be able to prove that you are a resident of New York City.

I can recall several trips to the city with my son and each stop included a visit to the now closed location on 5th Avenue. Even as an adult it was exciting to walk through the doors, greeted by one of their famous Toy Soldiers and find toys of all shapes and sizes as far as the eye could see.

So how can you spend the night at the latest FAO Schwarz location at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan? The listing at Airbnb has all of the details but here are some of the highlights. One family of 4 (2 years old and up) will spend the night of Monday December 21st exploring the 20,000 square foot store with a tour guided by one of their Toy Soldiers. You can have a music lesson on the "dance piano" and enjoy a special shopping spree!

Booking opens Tuesday December 15th at 12 noon  and starts at $25! Maybe, just maybe mind you, 2020 has a little bit of magic for you and your family.

FAO Schwarz started in 1862 in Baltimore as Toy Bazaar but millions of people around the world know the toy playground from the 1988 movie "BIG" starring Tom Hanks. Who could forget the scene featuring Hanks and Robert Loggia dancing on the giant floor piano? Maybe you know the store from other films such as "The Smurfs" in 2011 or Woody Allen's "Mighty Aphrodite" in 1995.

Oh, and the FAO in FAO Schwarz stands for Frederick August Otto or Mr. Schwarz.
