HBO has been scoping out locations in Troy for a new period piece called, "The Gilded Age". It's set in Victorian New York City and Troy, NY will be the stand in. The new series is from the "Downton Abbey" creator by Julian Fellowes.

According to the article in The TImes Union, the location scouts were looking for everything from mansions for wealthy robber barons, to tenements for the working poor. In addition, they have also been looking for rural barns and farmhouses that could be used in the show.

“The Gilded Age” is set in 1882 New York City when the rich are living high and setting social patterns that endure to this day. It is the story of Marian Brook, the orphaned daughter of a Southern general, who moves to New York to live her aunts, according to HBO's synopsis.
