New York State Police Arrest Driver After Chase And Attempted Escape

New York State Police have arrested a Connecticut man after a brief pursuit by vehicle and an attempt to flee by foot. One reason he tried to run is because the individual is on parole.

New York State Police have launched an initiative called D.A.S.H., District Attorney's Safe Highway. For the month of February Troopers have increased their presence with a highly visible, deliberately increased patrol footprint. We are talking speed enforcement, and a crackdown on reckless and aggressive driving. D.A.S.H. helped in the arrest of this individual.

On Tuesday February 3rd, at approximately 4:15pm, officers from the Troop K assigned to the D.A.S.H. initiative, attempted to pull over a 2025 Chevrolet on the Sprain Brook Parkway for multiple New York State vehicle and traffic law violations. One problem was, the drive allegedly didn't pull over and decided to speed away.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Jose A. Martinez of Bristol, Connecticut, and the front-seat passenger attempted to flee on foot but were taken into custody shortly afterward with the assistance of the Town of Greenburgh Police Department.

Martinez was charged with the following offenses:

• Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd
• Reckless Driving
• Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations
