The general consensus is that all of us are looking forward to the end of this year. As the clock ticks from 11:59pm on December 31st to 12:00am on January 1, 2021 how will you say good riddance to 2020?

There aren't a lot of the typical Capital Region New Year's Eve events this year. For example First Night Saratoga 2021 has been cancelled and with bars and restaurants under pandemic related mandates what can we do?

One tradition that my son and I had could live on this year. Every New Years Eve we would head to the park to see the lights and you could do the same. The Capital Holiday Lights In the Park at Washington Park in Albany will be open featuring over 125 displays and scenes. Tickets start at $25 per vehicle. The park will be open until January 3rd.

Most of the people I have talked to say they will be home watching the ball drop in Times Square New Years Eve. As a matter of fact the only way you can see the ball drop this year is from home as Times Square will not be open to the public. The show will go on however with a salute to New York families of first responders, frontline workers and essential workers. There will also be live performances by singer Gloria Gaynor as well as Andra Day.

You can count on the Times Square ball looking spectacular with 192 Waterford Crystals and 2,688 crystal triangles.

If you are spending New Years Eve on the couch you might consider Rock and Rolling All Night and Partying during the day. See how I did that? The band KISS will be performing live at 12 noon Capital Region time. They are offering streaming access to their KISS 2020 Goodbye concert on December 31st from Dubai. Access starts at $39.99 with one package costing $999,99. These guys are going to make KISStory!

Whatever you choose to do I hope you have a happy and healthy celebration. Happy New Year!
