Music, fashion, and the arts come together in Albany this weekend and we got the scoop from host, collaborator, and Capital Region native Maria Brink of In This Moment!

I think that when people hear the name Maria Brink most people think of the lead singer of the hard rock and heavy metal band In This Moment. Here in the Capital Region though we are a little more familiar with the woman behind the growling vocals seeing as she though is one of us.

Maria grew up right here in the Capital Region and what some might not be aware of is the fact that aside from a musician Maria is an artist in pretty much all forms. In fact right now she has a break from the road and has returned home. While she is here she is bringing some light to the culture coming out of the Capital Region in the form of a fashion and art show called 'Synthesis'.

Synthesis is a collaboration from a variety of local artists that will be held in theater above the flower shop on the corner of Lark St. and Hudson in Albany. 351 Hudson to be exact. This Saturday, October 20th at 7pm. Admission is completely FREE but you can RSVP to gain early entry.

I actually got a chance to talk with Maria this week to get a little bit of insight into Synthesis, what it entails, and the visuals we can expect to experience. During our chat we talked about the growing art culture here in the Capital Region and of course we started talking some tunes. I asked here what it was like working with Judas Priest's Rob Halford and what the status of the next In This Moment record was. I think you might like what she had to say on the latter. Check out our convo below!
