There is no middle ground when it comes to candy corn. You love it or you hate it, so where do you stand?

Maybe it's because I'm older but I really don't mind candy corn. When I was a kid I didn't want anything to do with the stuff. It was garbage to me. It's funny how things can change.

It's 2024 and I think that it's time for us to stop hating on this particular confection. After polling the people of the Capital Region on this I found that it was incredibly spilt. The ones who loved it LOVED it and the ones who did not were very vocal about not enjoying it.

I will tell you that as a kid (and probably last year as an adult) I used to eat the little pumpkins and pretend to be a giant. It's fun and I think candy should be all about having fun.

Don't get this twisted at all. I am not saying that candy corn is one of the best candies or even that it is top of my list. I just like it. No hate here. I would also like to say that no one needs to be putting that stuff out for trick or treating either. It belongs inside in a candy dish for you and maybe some guests.

I don't think any candy has ever made me use the barf emoji, but candy corn triggered that reaction for some of you.

Here's a couple of calls I got on this and as you can hear, it's either love or hate. There truly is no middle ground when it comes to candy corn.

Should "Sponge Candy" Be New York's Official Candy? We Think So!

There are many types of popular regional foods across Upstate New York. From spiedies in the Southern Tier to Michigan Hots in Plattsburgh, every region can boast a favorite. And, since New York State does not currently have an "official candy," we would like to nominate sponge candy for that honor. If you are from Buffalo, I know you will agree. And if you are not, you might be asking "what the heck is sponge candy?" For that group we invite yoiu to read on in this gallery!
