I know that the Rodney Dangerfield movie 'Back to School' has it's own theme song,it's written and performed by Jude Cole.

I thought it was by Danny Elfman, but I was wrong, Danny Elfman wrote the score to the movie. Fun Fact: Elfman's band Oingo Boingo is the band playing in the bar fight scene, but that is not the point.

Is there a 'Back to School' song?

I ask this because I asked: What is the definitive 'Last Day of School' back in June. I could not figure out if it should be Aerosmith's 'Sweet Emotion' or Alice Cooper's 'Schools Out.' I don't think anyone responded to my question but I have gotten used to fighting with apathy with apathy.

First of all, these are the 'Back to School' songs I was talking about.

The problem with these two songs is that they are fun and may actually make you feel excited about going back to school, there are only two types of people who should be excited about going back to school: People who are pursuing an education in a field in which they are passionate about and annoying people who want to treat going back to school like some red carpet premiere and take a bunch of selfies. The ones who take all the selfies also represent the decay of American culture.

Although 'Back to School' is an awesome movie with an awesome cast and music, it's too much fun to be 'Thee' back to school song.

The song that I feel is the closest to being 'Thee' back to school song is: "We are going to be friends" by The White Stripes.

The proof is in the pudding on this one, but I beg to differ here is why:

I would like to be able to associate this song with going back to school but I can not, I did not have many friends when I went to school, my 3rd grade teacher bullied me. I was that kid in the class that the teacher decided to make an 'example' out of, so that led to my entire class treating me the same way my teacher did, I lost my confidence and self esteem and by the 4th grade I turned into a smelly fat kid and that just gave all the other kids in my class a new reason to bully me, until I dropped all the weight but that took five years, but everyone from my elementary school probably remembered me as the smelly fat kid that you did not want to be friends with.

Going back to school has never been as nice as this song makes it out to be, but in a perfect world I suppose this could be 'Thee' back to school song.

I tried finding back to school themed songs on YouTube but I had to stop because this one made me want to kill myself.

And the little song that Adam Sandler sings in Billy Madison does not count because it's being sung from the perspective of an adult in a unrealistic situation.

Then there is this song from Grease 2.

If you can make it all the way through that then props to you I only made it through 1:19, I think Beavis and Butt Head said it best "You can't polish a turd."

After all of that I would like to nominate a song to be 'Thee' back to school song, I think it's ironic considering what the song was originally used for.
