It’s A Party As Buckcherry Rocked [REVIEW]

Northern Lights in Clifton Park was bulging at the seams.  The Jagermeister Music Tour featuring Buckcherry, Hell Yeah, All That Remains, and The Damned Things performed to a sold out crowd of 1500 Friday night.

A rare February day in the Capital Region as temperatures reached the high 50's, a great day if you were lucky enough to break out of cabin fever and see a kick ass rock show- A night of sex, drugs and rock n roll.  The night started with Q103 local music outlet band Hygeer rockin some cover tunes including Godsmack's "Cryin Like A Bitch" and a energy filled version of Rage Against The Machine's "Killin in the Name of". 

The real reason why I went to the show was for Buckcherry.  Yes- the Damned Things, All That Remains, and Hell Yeah put on admirable shows, but I was busy conducting radio station business such as arranging meet n greet times, coordinating photo sessions, jam sessions, running the Q-Tease,  looking for our Q103 winners and that they were in the right place at the right time. At a show it can be very stressful as everything runs on band time.  If you are not ready, the band does things without you. In reality I only caught glimpses of the opening acts. 

Buckcherry took to the stage at 10:40pm and from the very first chord of "Dead", you could feel the energy in the crowd and the band.  Josh Todd.. screaming it's Friday night.. who wants to F-ing Party, driving into "Rescue Me" followed by "All Night Long".. the band grew tighter and tighter as each tune went by and Josh Todd showed more and more of his tattoos. 

Buckcherry put on a solid performance with all their well-known songs and some new ones and dont forget the Jager shots too!  

As Todd intro'd "'Everything" saying this is the tune that started it all. He must be referring to the resurrection of Buckcherry and the currenet line up.  They didnt disappoint with "I Want You", got the crowd going with the current hit single "It's a Party". After  "Next to You"  Josh stopped and told a story about the origins of cocaine and what women did to tribal men in the 1800's.- who loves the cocaine?? Josh yelled and you knew it was time for "Lit Up".  Buckcherry kept rocking with "Slammin", "Lawless & Lulu" ," Onset"  then slowed it down as the crowd turned their cell phones in the air for "Sorry". The set came to a close with the song everyone came to see live "Crazy Bitch" - in the middle they broke out some of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" and KC & The Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight".  Two encores of " Out of Line" and  "Whiskey in the Morning" wrapped up the show at 11:50pm.- Another great raw rock show at that!! 

Buckcherry did not disappoint.  Josh Todd is a great front man, he's got all the moves and keeps the crowd entertained. If this show is any indication of what to expect this year for rock, I think we better have our devil horns ready.
