Have you seen the man in the photo?  If so, State Police want to hear from you.

State Police in Upstate, NY are looking for a man they say stole a car from the Empire State Plaza parking garage, only to total it hours later when he crashed on the corners and Lark St. and Madison Ave. in Albany on early Tuesday morning.  Police have not gone public with information about the stolen vehicle.

The man managed to flee the seen of the crash, and authorities are hoping that tips from citizens can help them find the man resposible in a crime spree straight out of Grand Theft Auto.

Timeline of events according to a New York State Police Facebook page news release:
  • Monday Night, May 9, 2022, 9:50 p.m: State Police received a report of a vehicle stolen from the underground parking garage at the Empire State Plaza.
  • Tuesday Night, May 10th at about 3:34 a.m:The stolen vehicle was involved in a crash at the intersection of Lark Street and Madison Avenue in the city of Albany.
  • Shortly after the crash early Tuesday morning:  The operator of the stolen vehicle, which was totaled in the crash, fled the scene. The theft according to State Police remains under investigation.
