The Buffalo Sabres are likely to miss the playoffs for a 13th straight year, as they sit 11 points out of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

However, last night was fun, as the Sabres won a thrilling 3-2 game (shootout) over the Carolina Hurricanes, as the arena was rocking and alive for once. It was probably the best game to attend so far this season.

The NHL trade deadline is next Friday, and while the talk on the ice has been lively lately, there's now a big topic of discussion regarding renovations at KeyBank Center.

The Sabres announced on Monday that major renovations will be planned ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

These renovations include a new roof and a new videoboard, which will be larger and a better view of the play.

The new videoboard will be very similar in size and look to the one at Scotiabank Center in Toronto.

These renovations are very needed. It's been a long time since significant upgrades were made towards the jumbotron/videoboard and the roof needed replacing, badly.

KeyBank Center is 28 years old now. Renovations will be needed from time to time, which will hold off a new arena in Buffalo. With the Bills in the process of building a new stadium in Orchard Park, we're still a long time from needing one with the Sabres; and this news signifies that KeyBank Center will be the home for them for the foreseeable future.

It should be fun to see that new videoboard in action.
