Albany's First Friday - shut down since the pandemic

As the weather gets warmer in Albany, area businesses look to cash in on the heavier flow of foot traffic.  And while many of Albany's restaurants and shops are hoping for a fruitful Spring, it appears as though they're getting a bit of a boost from the City of Albany with the return of the popular First Friday events - previously on pause because of the pandemic.

According to the City of Albany, a collection of local organizations got together to bring back monthly First Friday events with "rotating exhibitions" from diverse artists throughout the city."  It's scheduled to begin the first week of May.

Free and Open to the public!

First Friday Albany will feature new art, live music, and special events on the first Friday of every month with dozens of galleries, retailers, and nonprofits throughout the City of Albany. It's free and open to the public beginning on the first Friday in May.

Local businesses are encouraged to get involved!

The new version, set to start on Friday, May 5th, has been expanded to include more neighborhoods, and First Friday is looking to help out area businesses grow their traffic with the return of these monthly events held on the first Friday of the month.

According to sources, the City of Albany will hold a presser on Monday at 1030 am to further discuss the return of First Friday in Albany.
