Could a New Dinosaur Park Be Roaring Into Upstate NY Soon?

There could be a new dinosaur park coming to Upstate New York soon. The plan is to build it near an already popular area with a different kind of family theme park. If approved, it would roar into the area soon.

Where Will The Dinosaur Theme Park Be Built?

According to the Hudson Valley Post, the plan is to build an inclusive Dino Park in the Town of Montgomery in Orange County. It would be built on thirty-five acres at the corner of Route 17K and Barron Road. This location is just miles away from the new LEGOLAND New York Resort. It would cost roughly eighteen million dollars to build.

What Are The Plans For The Dinosaur Theme Park?

The thirty-five acres would house sixty life-size animatronic dinosaurs, a fossil dig site, a dinosaur splash park, the T-Rexpress train, smaller dinosaur rides for younger kids, an amphitheater, and six playgrounds. The public will also enjoy educational experiences with paleontologists.

The Area Has a History of Finding Dinosaur Bones

The new dinosaur theme park will be built in an area known for its paleontology history. Thirty-eight mastodon skeletons have been discovered in Orange County since 1780. Montgomery is known for having the first fully-intact mastodon skeleton discovery and it was exhumed there in 1801.

The Town of Montgomery Planning Board must approve the plans. If all goes well, there could be one hundred thirty new jobs created. The Dino Park hopes to open by the spring of 2025.
