Lake George Will Host One of the World’s Toughest Athletic Challenges

Lake George is already one of New York State's most beautiful destinations, and next summer it'll host one of the world's most grueling athletic competitions.

For the first time ever, an IRONMAN 70.3 event is coming to Lake George, and honestly, I can't think of a better place for the athletes to compete.

As for me, I'll be cheering from an Adirondack chair in the mountains.

When Is the Lake George IRONMAN?

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 13, 2027, when athletes from near and far will descend on the Queen of American Lakes for the inaugural Cuisine Solutions IRONMAN 70.3 Lake George.

The grueling event combines swimming, biking, and running through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Adirondacks.

What Does IRONMAN 70.3 Mean?

The 70.3 refers to the total distance competitors must complete, and it's a doozy:

• 1.2-mile swim in Lake George
• 56-mile bicycle ride through the surrounding area
• 13.1-mile run to the finish line

That's 70.3 miles of pure endurance and insanity. If I'm being honest, I'm not sure I could drive 70.3 miles through the Adirondacks without needing massage therapy after.

A Perfect Fit for the Adirondacks

Organizers are promoting the race as spectator-friendly, with a walkable venue, mountain views, scenic roads, and plenty of opportunities for families to cheer on competitors.

The event also qualifies participants for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.
