Upstate New York has always had a bit of Hollywood tinge to it. Massive stars who live in the city will use upstate as an easy and quick vacation destination.

As the years pass, however, many have made Upstate their permanent home, and one new Hollywood starlet is heading up to this area for a very down-to-earth reason...

Maya Hawke
If you're not aware of the name, get familiar. Maya Hawke is the daughter of two of 90s Hollywood's biggest stars: Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. She started out as a model, before making her acting debut in 2017 on BBC's Little Women miniseries as Jo March.

Her breakout role came shortly after, when she joined the cast of Netflix' hit series, Stranger Things. She played Robin Buckley starting in the show's third season, a best friend to Joe Keerey's Steve Harrington. From there, she exploded in popularity, and has been getting steady work inside the industry since.
Why is She Moving to Upstate?
There are plenty of reasons for Hollywood celebs to move to Upstate New York, but Maya's is a little more personal.
Her mother, Uma Thurman, lives just outside of Woodstock, and Maya wanted to be closer to her family. The two have always been close, and Maya wants to continue fostering that relationship while setting some (semi-permanent) roots down.
This works out perfectly for Maya, who is set to begin filming The God of the Woods, which takes place and will be filmed in and around the Adirondacks.
