I grew up in Mechanicville, and parades were a huge part of life. We had one for every holiday. I remember being in the band, wearing those heavy uniforms, and marching with my friends and classmates.

There were floats, vendors, sports teams, and the whole town showed up. So it makes me very happy to say the tradition continues with the second annual Veterans Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 15th.

The celebration begins at 5 pm. The parade will start at 9 Industrial Park Road and travel through the center of town. The route goes along Third Avenue, Park Avenue and Broadway before looping back toward Industrial Drive.

This year the Chamber of Commerce decided to go bigger. There will be more floats, more marching bands, and many local businesses taking part. It is shaping up to be one of the most festive events of the season.

Families can look forward to a mix of holiday lights, patriotic displays, and community groups showing their pride. There will be plenty to see and plenty to listen to as the bands fill the streets with music.

Santa Claus will make a special appearance. Plus, look for WGNA in the parade playing holiday country music and handing out American flags. Expect warm drinks, treats, and handmade gifts that fit the season.

If you want to support local veterans and enjoy a holiday tradition that feels like classic Mechanicville, this parade is a perfect choice. For details or participation information, visit the Chamber page or contact the Public Safety Office.
