Kraft recalls over 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners due to mix-up in packaging.

The apparent problem is that the labels are not properly marked indicating ingredients associated with the pasteurized cheese in the cheese dogs.

The label says they are the 'Classic Wieners' when in fact the package may contain 'Cheese Dogs.' Because of this, the recall was issued due to 'misbranding and undeclared allergens.'

This is a 'Class One' recall which is defined as a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.

The products in the recall include:

  • 16 oz. packages –individual consumer packages– of “Classic Wieners Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added” with “USE BY 16 Jun 2014” date and product code “044700000632”
  • Cases of 16 oz. packages –distributed to retailers– of “Classic Cheese Dogs Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added, and Pasteurized Cheese Product” with “USE BY 16 Jun 2014” date and case code “00447000005300”
