Levon Helm Studios Hits Amy Helm With 13-count Lawsuit

The team currently operating the legendary Levon Helm Studios (LHS) in Woodstock, New York filed a formal, thirteen-count, complaint against Amy Helm, and others. In part, suit 1:26-cv-01540-MAD-PJE alleges the defendants drained funds from LHS for personal expenses.

LHS is accusing the defendants of, among other things, ringing up $400,000 in personal charges and $1.3 million in salaries for non-business work, while failing to pay musician royalties for four years. The suit also suggests the defendants planned to strip LHS of assets and dissolve it.

The suit, filed on Monday August 10th, names Amy Helm, George Gilbert, Esq., Francis Flynn, CPA, The Helm Family Midnight Ramble LLC, Lori Peters, Sharon Fletcher, Esq., Christy Newman, and Jenn Van Steenburg.

On Monday July 13th news broke regarding a management shakeup at LHS with Amy Helm, daughter of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician Levon Helm, being forced out of the venue she had been operating for more than a decade. In May of 2026 Brian Parillo was named President of LHS.

In the meantime, in support of Amy Helm, 11 artists have cancelled 13 scheduled performances at LHS. Katie Pruitt, for example, cancelled her September show at LHS and moved it to Bearsville Theatre. The new September 25th show is on sale HERE.
