Metal Allegiance Perform Metallica’s ‘Disposable Heroes’ in Honor of Cliff Burton
If you missed Metal Allegiance‘s star-studded ‘Tribute to Fallen Heroes’ show at City National Grove in Anaheim, Calif., on Jan. 20, one of the highlights was their rendition of Metallica's "Disposable Heroes" in honor of the late Cliff Burton.
Following a speech by Metal Allegiance member Mark Menghi and a surprise appearance by Cliff Burton's father, Ray, the band -- in this instance Menghi on bass, Mike Portnoy on drums, Phil Demmel and Alex Skolnick on guitars and Death Angel frontman Mark Osegueda on vocals -- ripped through an incredibly energetic rendition of the Master of Puppets track as Ray Burton sat onstage. To make it even more special, Ray lent Menghi one of Cliff's basses for the performance.
Loudwire streamed the entire Metal Allegiance show live and you can watch the performance of 'Disposable Heroes' in the video above, as well as the introduction of Ray Burton in the video below.
