Metallica’s Kirk Hammett has been one of the most outspoken anti-Trump figures in metal. In an interview with Brazilian radio station 89FM A Radio Rock at last month’s Lollapalooza festival, Hammett predicted Trump will be a one-term president.

The day of Trump’s inauguration, Hammett took to Twitter to pen some lengthy commentary on what he saw. “Reject the lies from the people in the new administration, they are there only to feed their own thirst for greed and power,” Hammett wrote. “To say America is not great, that it lacks greatness, sets up a scenario for manipulation and control from others - pay attention people!”

When asked if he thinks America is going to change under the Trump administration, Hammett responded, "Well, you know, it's gonna be a very interesting four years. But everyone has to remember it's just gonna be four years. It's highly unlikely that it's gonna be eight. I'm not a prophet, but that's what I think. But, you know, I think we're gonna be in for a pretty interesting ride and we'll see what happens at the end."

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich previously said he’d move back to Denmark if Trump was elected and more recently spoke out against Trump’s proposed wall along America’s southern boarder. “I don’t think the world needs any walls. I think we need to bring people together,” Ulrich said. “Metallica travels all over the world, and through music we try to bring people together. So whether we’re in Mexico or whether we’re in Asia or whether we’re in Europe or whatever, we encourage as many different people from as many different backgrounds to come together and share music and life and culture and all these experiences.”
