I know summer isn't even over, the kids aren't back in school yet and we haven't even handed out candy to trick or treaters yet. However, the New York Department of Transportation is looking ahead to a snowy winter. Have you heard all the talk about the Polar Coaster? According to the Farmers Almanac it's going to be a snowy and cold winter. That means lots of plowing to keep the roads clear.

That's why, according to a story on WNYT-TV's website, the NYDOT is needing to hire 500 new workers to help with all the plowing. There will be 65 new positions right here in the Capitol Region.

Highway Maintenance Workers are relied upon to keep our roads clear in the winter, and perform essential maintenance tasks throughout the year in every county of New York State. This is an important and rewarding career. www.dot.ny.gov/jobs
