Opening a new restaurant during the coronavirus pandemic takes some serious guts. Of course, when Kaytrin Della Salla and Devin Ziemann, who also own Crave and The Cuckoo's Nest decided to open a third restaurant in Schenectady they didn't know that we would be in the throes of a huge economic downturn and a health crisis.

I've eaten at both Crave and The Cuckoo's Nest and if the food at The Nest is comparable they won't have any issue packing the place...withing social distancing guidelines, of course.

The Nest was supposed to open its doors at The Foster Building at 512 State Street in Schenectady in March, but their opening was delayed because of the pandemic. They have room for 200, but with social distancing guidelines, the capacity will be reduced to 100. They also have an outdoor patio that will be open as long as the weather will allow.

The Nest will offer a twist on southern cuisine like they serve at their Albany restaurant, The Cuckoo's Nest. My wife and I spent some time in the south and let me say their southern cuisine is done right. If you need some good southern comfort food you've found the right place.
