New York State is home to the best of the best. We have the best city in the world, the best residents in America and now the New York Knicks are the best team in the NBA. Our bragging rights don't end with those examples, we also have the best department store in the Nation.

According to Capital One Shopping, the majority of consumers prefer to shop primarily in a physical store. Approximately 45% of consumers head to the store vs. shopping online. In New York, one of the reasons could be that we have 27 locations of the best department store in America.

USA Today 10 Best readers' choice awards took a look at everything department stores offer shoppers, opened up voting to readers and the results are in. New York State is home to 8 of the top 10 department stores in the United States.

Personally I like the ease of shopping online and having my purchases delivered to my door but there is something special about in-store shopping. I enjoy being around people, asking questions about a product and actually seeing the item before purchasing it.

Of all the department stores in the United States, it has been determined that JC Penny is the best. With 600 locations across the country and 27 New York stores JC Penny is the go-to store for affordable prices on name brand items.

Eight of the top 10 department stores in America have locations in the Empire State. Von Maur, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Boscov's, Target, Macy's, and Kohl's all made the top 10.
