2022 New York State Fair Welcomes 80s Pop Icons! Ready To Dance?
There are plenty of 80s rock and hair metal bands coming to the Capital Region and New York as a whole, but what about the 80s pop? Sting, REO Speedwagon, Styx, and Loverboy are playing SPAC. Great White, Tesla, Foreigner, and Night Ranger are already announced for the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse.
If you’ve been asking for less guitar and more synthesizer, you’re going to love dancing the night away to the State Fair’s newest addition that they announced this morning.
Break out your shoulder pads, big blazers, and hairspray - and get ready to welcome Culture Club, performing with their unforgettable lead: Boy George!
Known for his eye-popping style and makeup, Boy George is an 80s icon who made headlines and ruffled feathers while Culture Club released new wave megahits like “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?” This will be their second NYS Fair performance, after last playing in 2016.
The trio is scheduled to perform Tuesday, August 30 at the Chevy Park Stage at 8p. The Fair expressed their excitement in a statement:
Culture Club will get fairgoers dancing with their contagious, light pop sound,” said interim Fair Director Sean Hennessey. “We’re looking forward to bringing their contagious energy back, and what a pleasure it is to be able to add this fun, colorful bunch to our diverse line-up.
The best part is that anyone can see Boy George and Culture Club for free with their regular Fair admission! Let’s hope we get more 80s pop stars coming to the Great State Fair and hopefully the Capital Region soon. (Looking at you, Duran Duran.)
