New York State Police are seeking the publics help in identifying and locating an individual suspected of making a fraudulent purchase at a local hardware store. The man, pictured below, is accused of purchasing approximately $500 worth of items illegally.

On Tuesday March 5, 2024 at approximately 1pm, according to a New York State Police press release, a man entered Shinnecock Hardware located in the town of Southampton, NY. Before leaving the store, this individual fraudulently purchased items totaling around $475.

This unknown individual has been described as a 6'2" heavy set black male. On March 5th he was wearing dark-tinted glasses, a green sweater with a red shirt underneath. This individual was also sporting facial hair at the time.

SQN Banking Systems reports that a fraudulent purchase under $500 would most likely be a misdemeanor with a penalty of $1000 and up to one year in jail. Suspects could also be charged with multiple crimes. This individual could be charged with possession of stolen property, identity theft and petit larceny.
