Thanksgiving is this Thursday, November 28th, but the celebrating and get-togethers will begin Wednesday and continue straight through the weekend. Friends and family sharing a meal together, watching some football and getting some early Christmas shopping done.

Be safe this holiday season as you hit the road for parties, dinners and dates. New York State Police will be cracking down on impaired and reckless driving this Thanksgiving weekend. Here's what you can expect.

New York State Police, according to a press release, have partnered with local law enforcement agencies on increased patrols throughout the holiday weekend. From now until Sunday December 1st, officers are looking for impaired and reckless driving as well as unsafe driving behaviors such as violation of the Move Over Law.


A common threat on our roads that we continually fight is impaired and drunk driving. Traffic enforcement is imperative to everyone’s well-being and the goal of making this holiday a safe one.
