This SUV, With an Adult and Child Inside, Slides Over Embankment in New York
Be careful on icy roads! This SUV, with an adult and child inside, slid off the road and started down an embankment. Bulldozer to the rescue!
Winter in New York State throws a little bit of everything at us. One day could be 45 degrees and sunny, while the very next day it could be windy, and snowing with temperatures dropping below zero. Caution and care are in order, especially when you see how bad this accident could have been.

Just after noon on Sunday January 11th, an adult was driving an SUV on South Hill Road in the town of Thurston, New York. Next thing you know there was a patch of ice and the vehicle started to slide. To make matters even scarier, the vehicle was sliding toward an embankment.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officers out of Steuben County responded to a call for a car over an embankment. Forest Ranger Dormer and a member of the Thurston Fire Department located the vehicle and learned that, in addition to the adult driver and passenger in the front, there was a child in the backseat.
Rescuers quickly removed the child from the vehicle and checked them over to ensure they were warm and not injured. The Savona Fire Department and New York State Police joined Ranger Dormer and the Thurston Fire Department to stabilize the vehicle with straps so they could safely remove the driver and passenger.
