New York’s First Meadery Opens In Delmar
The Upstate has it's first Meadery.
Last year Gov. Cuomo signed legislation establishing the license for Meaderys and it's similar to those already available to farm breweries and wineries.
Mead is the worlds oldest fermented beverage and it's delicious. Basically, mead is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. The alcoholic content ranges from about 3.5% ABV to more than 20%. According to Wickipedia.
Royal Meadry in Delmar is owned by Gregory and Kristen Wilhelm. They turned their passion for beekeeping and brewing into the business that combines them both.
They have many different varieties of Mead and a tasting room to try them.
