Of Mice & Men have been forced to cancel their remaining European tour dates due to concerns for frontman Austin Carlile’s health. Austin has been dealing with a great deal of pain due to Marfan syndrome, bravely sticking it out for the sake of playing for his fans.

Carlile was able to make it through a gigantic tour with Slipknot and Marilyn Manson this summer, though he began suffering greatly by the final leg. Austin recently found himself in a leg brace, further complicating his physical condition. Though he continued working hard to keep promoting the band’s newest album, Cold World, Carlile seems to have hit his tipping point and must focus on his health.

Of Mice & Men broke the news via Facebook:

Dear European Fans,
It is with our sincerest apologies that we are forced to cancel the remaining dates on this current headline tour. We had to cut short our set in Portsmouth on Saturday night due to Austin being in pain throughout the show. We attempted to play the show in Cardiff the following night, but it became increasingly obvious that we were not able to continue and that we need to focus on Austin’s health. As much as we wish we could complete the remaining dates of this tour we know that we would be doing a disservice to all of our loyal fans, as well as ourselves, performing under the current circumstances.
The reality is that we feel the best thing to do right now is go home, get Austin the appropriate medical attention & regroup before we head back out on the road again. We appreciate that our fans understand how important it is that we put health first & foremost & know that we would never cancel shows unless we felt it absolutely necessary.
Refunds will be available at point of purchase for all cancelled shows.
Much love- Aaron, Alan, Austin, Phil & Tino.

Fan response in the comments section has been overwhelmingly positive and understanding. Various OM&M concertgoers who attended the band’s Oct. 9 gig in Cardiff shared how Carlile looked ill and seemed to be struggling to give his best performance. One fan commented, “Saw it Cardiff on Sunday too where he came down to the side of the stage and was doubled over. He looked in a bad way but fair play to him he carried on and still done about a dozen songs. Great gig by the way and hope he gets on his way to feeling better soon.”

We’d like to send our best wishes to Austin Carlile and we hope he’s able to continue performing soon. To grab a copy of Cold World, click here.
