Teen Driver, Four Others Arrested After Thruway Stabbing Near Schenectady
Several Capital Region residents have been arrested following a stabbing at a New York State Thruway rest stop, and many of these individuals are teenagers.
On Wednesday, a wild scene broke out at the Pattersonville Service Area at Exit 27 off I-90, the New York State Thruway. Allegedly a group of young people from the Capital Region drove to the rest stop to confront 2 other individuals. The result left 1 in the hospital and 5 arrested.

On August 5th, according to a New York State Police press release, a 17-year-old driver transported 5 other individuals to the Pattersonville rest stop in a 2017 Subaru. sedan looking for two rest area employees who were outside on break.
One of the employees and several vehicle occupants appear to have known each other. The five passengers proceeded to strike the two employees, and one suspect cut one of the employees with a utility knife.

The passengers then left the scene and drove to Schenectady, only to be found by Schenectady Police during a routine traffic stop. Troopers responded to the scene and located the weapon used in the assault in the vehicle.
The victim who was slashed, a 22-year-old male from Amsterdam, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam with significant, but non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim was not injured.
