Randy Blythe: Lamb of God Will Take Time Off ‘For Real’ After ‘Sturm Und Drang’ Album Cycle
There's no denying that bands are out on the road more than ever in today's age, meaning a break from it all can be essential to prevent burnout. Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe, who is also an accomplished author and passionate photographer, has expressed his desire to do just that after the band wraps up the album cycle for 2015's Sturm Und Drang.
The vocalist was a guest on Nikki Sixx's Sixx Sense radio program (audio below) and spoke about the whirlwind his life has been over the last four years, starting with his incarceration in the Czech Republic, facing manslaughter charges he would later be acquitted of.
Chronicling his hectic schedule since then, Blythe described (transcription via Blabbermouth), "I got out of prison and immediately went on tour because I had five lawyers and they were just hemorrhaging money like crazy. I went from jail to home to, 10 days later, being at Knotfest to home for a month or two, then out on tour with Lamb of God, then back to the Czech Republic to go to trial, found not guilty, then come home, then finish up the rest of our tour and finally end in South Africa."
Stating how Lamb of God then went into the studio to record Sturm Und Drang and then back out on the road once more, Blythe mentioned this album cycle "is not going to end until August of September of this year," adding, "So it's just been, like, grinding, grinding, grinding. And when I'm not on the road, I'm working on writing and photography."
Looking forward to having more time to dedicate to his other interests, Blythe commented, "It's at a point now where it's, like, at the end of this tour cycle, it's going to be, like, boom, it's time to take a break for real and concentrate more on writing and being at home with the family.
Blythe had already revealed he was working on his next book, which he went into further detail when speaking with Sixx. "The theme of my next book is going to be about perspective, because I think… Today, it's such an almost binary world; things are either A or B in people's belief systems," he said. Elaborating more, the vocalist noted, "This next book will be about surfing, travel and photography all together, and it will convey the theme of changing perspective somehow."
