Rob Halford Performs ‘Lift Me Up’ Live With Five Finger Death Punch in the UK
Earlier this year, Five Finger Death Punch carried out one of their musical aspirations collaborating with the one and only Metal God, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, on their song ‘Lift Me Up.’ The tune served as the first single from ‘The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1,’ released back in July.
The recording of the song was just the beginning though. Fans who attended the Five Finger Death Punch show last night (Dec. 5) at the LG Arena in Birmingham, UK were in for a big surprise when hometown hero Halford joined the band to perform the hit single. Watch fan-filmed footage of the live performance above.
The metal partnership was spawned by a TV appearance where 5FDP frontman Ivan Moody caught Halford on ‘That Metal Show’ talking about his band. That set the ball in motion. “I grew up listening to him,” said Moody. “The guy is an icon for music and just in general.”
Halford has had nothing but positive things to say about Five Finger Death Punch, even telling Full Metal Jackie, “I absolutely love the band, I think the band is absolutely amazing." He continued, sharing, “I’ve been watching the band from the early days much like I’ve been doing with much of the metal scene, I’m just feasting on it all the time especially since it’s so easy now through the internet to pick up on things.”
Meanwhile, Five Finger Death Punch continue to dominate the airwaves, recently scoring the No. 1 spot on the Active Rock Chart with their latest single ‘Battle Born,’ the first from ‘The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2,’ released on Nov. 19.
As for what's next Five Finger Death Punch, the band will have a little bit of downtime before they join the ShipRocked cruise at the end of January followed by tour dates in Australia and Europe spanning through March of 2014.
