For those of you who don't know, I've done a bit of "ghost hunting" and paranormal investigating as a hobby the last few years. I can safely say that I have never seen a ghost, but I have come across some things that just feel weird.

Vale Cemetery, located on State Street in Schenectady, has been around since 1857. That predates the American Civil War. The first burial after Vale was dedicated was that of a four-year-old boy.

This historic cemetery is over 100 acres and has over 33,000 people buried on its grounds. If you want to go green you can do that at Vale as well and return to the earth as natural as possible.

So is it haunted?

I can't say yes or no to that question. I can tell you that a few years ago I visited the property and it certainly was an eerie feeling especially when I approached the chapel that sits in the middle of the cemetery. People have said to be able to hear people singing inside even though it hasn't been used in years.

The folks who live near the cemetery have also reported seeing ghostly figures at night wandering the grounds.

I have to say that thee creepiest thing about Vale is the legend that the statues have been seen crying blood. I didn't witness any of that and the skeptic in me says that's 100% not blood but something more natural coming from the statues when it rains.

If you've ever had the chance to visit this Upstate New York cemetery you have gotten to appreciate its beauty and history. It is absolutely gorgeous and there us a lot for you to take in.

Plus, you could run into a ghost!
