Ex-American Idol judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul are being reunited once again, as Abdul will be joining Cowell as a featured judge on the singing competition The X-Factor, which makes its American debut this year. They have been apart since their last season together on American Idol, so they could either get along great, or completely clash.

The X-Factor is a vocal competition that originated in the United Kingdom, and since its debut in 2004, it has grown to include a number of countries. Its layout is similar to that of American Idol, where individuals audition, and those chosen to appear on the show compete against each other, and they are eliminated until the winner is determined. However, instead of one act being judged, each contestant is mentored by a judge.  Each judge is assigned a category and then aids the contestant with song selection and styling, while the judge also critiques the contestants of the other categories.

The X Factor is produced by Cowell and his company, Syco TV. He also is a judge on the British version of the show.

Cowell is excited to be back with Abdul, as he released the following statement to Deadline:

I've always wanted Paula. Always been very vocal about that. I missed her the second she left ['American Idol']," Cowell, 51, told Deadline. Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. ... I don't know what it is about her, but I've always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she's right. I've never found anyone better than her.

Joining the duo is singer and previous X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole, and previous Island Def Jam Records chairman Antonio, "LA" Reid.

As for Cole, who served as a judge on the British version of the show for the past three seasons? I thought she was bright, cute, knew what she was talking about, ambitious. And you meet someone special a few times in your life, and this girl is special, Cowell raved of the Girls Aloud singer, 27. If people take to her like the British public did, I think she's going to do really well in America. And Fox was desperate to hire her.

Fox still has yet to officially confirm the hiring of Abdul and Cole, as contract negotiations are still in the works, but Cowell is confident and excited about their involvement in the show.

What do you think of this news? Are you a fan of the show? Do you think it's a good idea for Cowell and Abdul to be working together again or will it lead to disaster?
