Strong Storms to Kick Off Memorial Day Weekend in the Cap Region
It's the unofficial start to summer and it will begin this afternoon with some severe weather. Thunder & lightning, strong winds, heavy rain and some flooding are all possible.
The National Weather Service released a timeline of when parts of the area will begin to experience bad weather.
East-Central New York will start experiencing storms as early as 2pm. As they move east, the nasty weather is expected to hit the Capital Region just in time for the ride home - between 4pm and 6pm.
Needless to say, the roads are going to be busy this afternoon with the start of the Holiday weekend. The bad weather will make traveling a bit more treacherous.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for this afternoon and for Saturday, where more storms are possible.
Sunday so far is looking great with temps in the low 80's and for Memorial Day Monday, another hot one on tap with temps getting near 90.
