‘Survey Says!’ The U.S. Average Bra Size Has Increased To 34DD In The Last 20 Years
Good news for men, bad news for women- in just 20 years the average bra size for American females has climbed from 34B to 34DD. That's pretty much a 100% increase, which is crazy. How did it get like this? Will that number continue to get bigger? What does this mean for us girls? Read on for all the info!
Yea yea I know all you guys are hootin' and hollerin' over these results but it's not as great as it sounds, not for those who have to carry these heavy things around. As enjoyable as they can be for both genders, the truth is they can cause of lot of shoulder, neck and back pain and in some cases it might be painful enough for a woman to vow for reductive surgery, which I fully support.
So how did this happen? Well, according to the article, 60,000 women in over 16 stores nationwide participated in the survey that was then compared to one conducted back in 1992, where the average bra size was only 34B. Part of the massive increase is due to the fact that there are far more sizes available to women now, with some going above and beyond sizes F and G. Another, more obvious factor is that breast implants and weight gain have contributed to the rise in cup size. In the early 1990s plastic surgery was not nearly as popular as it is today.
Aside from the 16 stores who partook in the survey, others around the country have reported similar results, with one certain style's most demanded size to be a 38H.
This might be a good time to get a professional fitting, as many women are wearing improperly-fitted bras, despite how they might feel in them.
There is no evidence as to what this will mean for women in say another 20 years, but let's hope things stay pretty even, you know, for our sake.
How do you feel about your bra size?
