New York State Thruway Authority Operations Deputy Director Eric Christensen says that the entire system statewide will go active on Saturday with a flip of a switch.

The Thruway Authority today announced emergency toll procedures will be in place effective Sunday, March 22 at approximately 8 p.m., at cash toll lanes on the Thruway’s ticketed-system.

The first two new Thruway cashless gantries are up in the Upstate.

While this means you wouldn't have to stop at a toll booth from New York City to Buffalo it does not mean that you wouldn't have to pay tolls.
