He's gone from UAlbany Great Danes' legend, to one of the best lacrosse players of all-time, so naturally, Lyle Thompson has taken home more awards in 2022.
While they no longer hold training camp at UAlbany, the New York Giants will still visit the Great Danes from time to time, and here's why that happened this past weekend.
Travis Jankowski has been around a little. He broke into the big leagues in 2015 with the Padres and played parts of the next 5 seasons in San Diego. In 2020, Jankowski played for Cincinnati and last year, he was with Joe Girardi and the Philadelphia Phillies. Now, the former UAlbany nemesis is fighting for a roster spot with the Mets. UAlbany nemesis?
Lyle Thompson is the best NCAA lacrosse scorer of all-time, and one of the best athletes in Albany history. He returns this weekend, and here are his best moments.
Monday night the UAlbany Great Danes continue their lesson plan under Coach Killings. Their non-conference schedule is a bear. Killings is aware but sees the benefits. "Monday presents a tremendous opportunity to compete against an ACC opponent on the road. As we continue our journey through this season, I am excited to see the growth of our program and players against a tough and versatile Boston College team" said Killings.
Nobody told Dwayne Killings that it would be easy taking over a Division I basketball program. Add in 9 new student-athletes to the program and an entirely new coaching staff, and the equation appears tougher in front of the rookie head coach. That's the way that the 40 year old head coach appears to like it.
The UAlbany Great Danes began their season by visiting national powerhouse No. 4 North Dakota State University last Saturday. The Danes fell 28-6, but showed some awesome signs of potential this season against a team that has won 8 of the last 10 FCS National Championships, including finishing the first half with more total yards. UAlbany Head Coach Gattuso joined The Drive with Charlie & Dan on Tuesday and pointed out a lot of positives for the Great Danes on both sides of the ball.
