Construction crews have worked around-the-clock to finish the New York Islanders' new arena, which sits right next to Belmont Park on Long Island. With the team opening their home schedule against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, time was ticking to finish the project.

Today, the Islanders were finally able to call the arena home, and skated on the new sheet of ice for practice earlier this afternoon. Take a look at some of the best shots from inside the arena, and around the exterior, as the team gets set to open up a new era this weekend.
