The New York Giants are in a very tough situation heading into the 2022 offseason.

After assuming control of the franchise, new general manager Joe Schoen estimated that $40 million would need to be cut from the Giants' salary cap in order to accomplish what needed to be accomplished this offseason.

With that knowledge in hand, the question became this: how do you free up $40 million in one offseason?

Unfortunately, that usually means that a number of players are on the "chopping block" for the New York Giants. Whether it's a player on the last year of their rookie contract, or a veteran player who may be paid for more than the level at which they currently play, a number of players on the Giants have reason to be concerned heading into next season.

The team has already parted ways with two players (Devontae Booker, Kyle Rudolph) and asked a third (Sterling Shepard) to take a substantial pay cut. The rest, however, are still up in the air.
