This week the NCAA announced that basically the biggest event in college sports will be returning to the Capital Region in the next couple of years.

According to the TU after being passed over for the last couple of years Albany's Times Union Center has been selected to play host to play host for the first and second round games of the men's NCAA tournament in 2020 as well as the women's sweet sixteen and elite eight rounds in the 2019 tournament!

With these new developments the Cap City and the Times Union Center will now host games in the NCAA tournament for at least the next 3 years (the venue had already been selected to host the women's regional in 2018 prior to this weeks announcement). Apparently it's been a good 14 years since the city has hosted any of the men's NCAA games so it would seem as though all that construction that has been going on downtown is already starting to pay off.

Looks like tickets for the men's games won't go on sale until roughly a year before the games so you have some time to save up. But last time the games were in town tickets were sold out almost immediately. So if you are looking to plan ahead it looks like the men's games will be the weekend of March 19th - 22nd.

Are you pumped to have some serious college hoops action return to the Capital Region?
