Time is Running Out to See April the Giraffe’s Calf in NY Before He Moves to His New Home

At 1 year old April the Giraffe's calf, Tajiri, is ready to live on his own and time is running out for you to visit him before he makes his move down south!

It's hard to believe it has been over a year since we were all glued to our computer screens watching the live stream of the giraffe cam at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville waiting for April the giraffe to give birth. Probably because the calf took his sweet time coming into the world.

April brought Tajiri into the world on their own time and now at a year old their handlers say that he is showing sings that he is ready to live independently of his mother and they are hopeful that when he does so he will continue the propagation of giraffes.

As a result Tajiri will be moving to a new home in Raleigh North Carolina next month. So if you were hoping to meet and visit with him you might want to do that some time soon!

If you cannot make it and are a little bummed out don't be to sad because it appears that history is destined to repeat itself seeing as though April is expecting again with another calf (her 5th) due to arrive in the spring of 2019!
