Every year we go through the same debate when it comes to "what is the best candy' for whatever season it happens to be at the time. Right now we're talking Halloween candy and instead of asking everyone for their suggestions I've just decided to make sure you're all getting the right ones.

According to this list I found on Instagram M&M's are the most popular based on money spent on them. Which I think it fine. Everyone likes M&M's and they come in different varieties. I can see this being true.

I'll be honest with you, candy corn and hot tamales being on this list of the top 10 really scares me for the future of the human race. These are not good candy options. I will now give you the five best candies to both give out and receive on Halloween.

Best Halloween Candy

  1. Reese's peanut butter cups (in any form)
  2. Kit Kat bars
  3. Twix
  4. Sour Patch Kids (for the peanut allergy kids)
  5. DOTs

Let me make my case for DOTs. I know you're all thinking I'm crazy, but those weird little gummy candies only pop up at this time of year and every single parent I've ever encountered at a trunk or treat or otherwise asks for a box of DOTs. I think they're underrated and underappreciated.

I think the other options speak for themselves when it comes to being great candy options, but those DOTs are the key for keeping kids and parents happy. Kids don't want them, so give them to the adults. It's perfect.

Automatic jail if you give out or like these

  • candy corn
  • apples
  • Mary Jane
  • Payday
  • circus peanuts
  • marshmallows (in any form)
  • popcorn balls
  • popcorn in general
  • toothbrushes or any other dental hygiene items

Just remember, Halloween is supposed to be fun. This is not your opportunity to try and spread your own beliefs about healthy candy alternatives or just candy alternatives in general. No one wants any of the above items. Just give out candy and only candy.
