The Top Trending Searches of 2020 have been announced by Google! I am sure we could guess a few of them but some might surprise you. We certainly cannot go by my searches as my most recent 4 are as follows:

  1. Corey Taylor (Slipknot)
  2. It's A Wonderful Life
  3. Hungarian Christmas traditions
  4. James Cagney

Yes, admittedly my list is strange and definitely not "trending". So, what about 2020? I believe we can accept that this has been a terrible year and some of the reasons for that are probably at the top of the list. The search engine keeps track of all the trending search items each year and here is some of what they found for 2020.

The first time "google" was referenced in Pop Culture was in a 2002 episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The verb "google" became so widely used and commonplace that it was added to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary in 2006.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. It appears they have done a good job with this as over 70% of worldwide online search requests are handled by Google.

For what it's worth Elon Musk is leading the trend for searches today. Are you one of them?
