Town of Colonie to Honor 1900 Men & Women from Capital Region
This Sunday we will celebrate Mother's Day and embrace the ladies in our lives that have been there for us through thick and thin. On Monday we turn our attention to those Capital Region residents that have been there for our entire country, fighting for our freedom and making the supreme sacrifice.
The season is called 'Please Remember Me' and it begins this Monday May 9th in Colonie.
Let's pay homage to those brave veterans that have given the supreme sacrifice for their Country. Starting Monday, you will notice American flags displayed along Route 9 in Colonie. These flags will be prepared for placement by employees of National Grid.
There will be 165 American flags flying along Route 9 and they will remain on display through Labor Day. The Mission of 'Please Remember Me' non-profit is to honor and remember the 1,900 men and women, from the Capital Region, since WWI; who made the supreme sacrifice for our freedom, which isn't free.
To kick off the 10th Anniversary of 'Please Remember Me', the Town of Colonie, Trustco Bank, and National Grid will gather at the Colonie Memorial Town Hall on Monday May 9th at 11:30am.
The public is encouraged to join the kick-off event located in front of the Colonie Memorial Town Hall, 534 New Loudon Road in Latham. Just opposite of the Siena Campus.
